1) Cut the end of the tube with the applicator tip. You’ll want to cut the tip so there is a hole approximately 1/4″ wide.

2) You’ll apply the glue to the back of the wood strip or plank. The first bead should be 1/2″ to 1″ from the ends of the board. Subsequent beads should not get closer than 1/2″ to 1″ from the edges of the board.

3) Each bead of glue should be 8″ to 10″ from each other. Some people like to use a “snake pattern” on the back of the boards. Make sure that the glue is not too close to the edges of the board.

OTHER HINTS AND TIPS FOR INSTALLING HARDWOOD FLOORING WITH A GLUE GUN

DO NOT GLUE the tongues and grooves of the wood planks or strips.

Keep glue off the face of the board as well.

Use a bright plastic paint tray for a place to set down the glue gun. The bright color will make it easily identifiable. The glue will not stick to the plastic.

Keep clean rags and appropriate solvent handy to wipe up spilled glue

Wearing white-soled tennis shoes will help to prevent scuffs.
