Glitsa manufactures acid cure finishes and sealers that offer outstanding durability, lasting beauty, and outstanding ease of application.
And, perhaps best of all, you can create different combinations of their products to achieve your desired outcome.
In this post, we’re going to go over the advantages of acid cure finishes, including the Glitsa system.
The acid cure advantage
Acid-cured finish (also known as Swedish finish) is a great option for a number of reasons.
If you need a quick turnaround time on a jobsite, you’ll find a friend in acid cure. Its quick drying time (2-4 hours) allows you to apply up to two coats in one day.
Acid-cured finish is also known for its durability. The way this finish is formulated creates smaller molecules which actually embed themselves into the wood cells, creating a hard layer of protection and allowing it to stand up to the toughest wear and tear.
It’s also very easy to repair Glitsa and other acid-cured hardwood floor finishes because the coating wets back into itself with ease. This will help give you and your clients peace of mind; instead of calling you back to complete minor touch-ups and repairs, your clients can do it themselves.
Many options and possible systems
Glitsa offers a variety of products with different possible combinations so you can create the look you want.
Glitsa MultiKote is a two-component finish with an acid catalyst.
MultiKote provides an excellent depth of color compared to oil-modified poly finishes, so it’s excellent to use with exotic woods. This finish is available in Matte, Satin, Semi-Gloss, and Gloss varieties.
Apply MultiKote under Glitsa Gold Seal/Lite Scent or other layers of MultiKote.
Glitsa Gold Seal/Light Scent is a one-component acid-cured finish, and you only need one coat to sufficiently finish the floor. If needed, you can recoat after 24-48 hours. This product offers excellent adhesion, a crystal-clear coating, and excellent wear resistance.
Gold Seal/Light Scent can be applied over Glitsa Bacca sealer or used in conjunction with Glitsa MultiKote.
If you’d like to go the oil-based route, Glitsa offers the Poly 500 system. 500 Series finish is easy to apply. It features just enough body so that you can easily drag it across the floor, but it’s not so thin that you can’t roll it effectively.
This product offers exceptional flow and leveling, and a consistent sheen. Glitsa Poly 500 is formulated for reduced yellowing––one downfall of oil-based polyurethane finishes that is otherwise difficult to avoid. The 500 Series’ MFMA approval can help you rest assured that this finish will help you achieve lasting durability and beauty in a floor.
Glitsa Bacca Sealer is a two-component sealer that’s designed for use with all Glitsa acid cure finishes. The required hardener is included with the sealer.
Glitsa also offers a poly-based quick-dry sealer for use with their poly-based finishes.

With the Glitsa system, there are many different systems you can use to achieve your exact desired effect. A few examples include:
1 coat of Glitsa Sealer/Bacca and 1 Gold Seal/Lite Scent for a traditional, natural Swedish look that shows grain definition.
2 coat of Glitsa Sealer or Bacca and 1 Gold Seal/Lite Scent for less grain definition and a higher build look.
1 or 2 coats MultiKote and 1 Lite Scent for a high build system that has sheen before the topcoat.
3 coats MultiKote for a high build look.
1 coat Glitsa Poly Quick Dry Sealer and 2 to 3 coats of Glitsa Poly 500 Series for a poly-based finish with added durability.
