Bostik has recently unveiled a revolutionary new adhesive for hardwood floor installation. Bostik GreenForce with AXIOS Tri-Linking Polymer Technology has many great features including, but not limited to, easy cleanup, a variety of installation options, and a lack of concrete moisture testing.
GreenForce has superior adhesion technology
The heart of GreenForce is the AXIOS Tri-Linking Polymer Technology. Bostik has designed the adhesive’s molecules to have three branches.
Typically adhesive only has two branches. When adhesive molecules with two branches are connected, they look like train tracks. Three branches means that there’s more points of contact between the molecule and the surface it is adhering to.
The three branches give GreenForce a superior green grab. Green grab is defined as how well a glue will adhere to the wood plank upon first contact. The wood planks might slip and slide over other adhesives like it’s a skating rink. With GreenForce, once the board is placed down it’s set and won’t move.
The molecules in GreenForce have another unique feature. When using GreenForce over a concrete slab you do not have to test for moisture using a calcium chloride or relative humidity test. The GreenForce bond and entanglement of molecules is so tight that it does not let any moisture permeate through the subfloor. (You can also use GreenForce as a moisture barrier.)
As long as the floor is dry to the touch, then it is acceptable to apply the GreenForce adhesive. Since subfloor moisture tests can take up to four days, skipping the tests is a great time saver for the process of installing hardwood floors.
You can use Bostik GreenForce with almost any subfloor and flooring
GreenForce has been manufactured to be perfectly suited for installations over many different subfloor options. You can use GreenForce over concrete, plywood, well bonded vinyl/VCT & ceramic tile, cement backer board, gypsum underlayments (if dry and above grade), cement patch/underlayments, radiant-heat flooring, and properly prepared terrazzo. Not only can GreenForce be used with a variety of subfloors, it can be used with solid and engineered hardwood floors, as well as bamboo, parquet, and cork floors. There are also no restrictions on the length of the boards or the thickness.
Because of its versatility, GreenForce could be your all-around utility player adhesive.
GreenForce features anti-fracture technology, is simple to clean up, and is an all-around easy to use product
Another neat feature of GreenForce is its anti-fracture technology. Once GreenForce is cured, it will bridge cracks up to 1/8″. The elastomeric properties of the adhesive will help against any pre-existing cracks and any possible future gaps. If the concrete has any horizontal movement, the glue will “grow” to bridge the gap.
One thing that tends to make hardwood mechanics and installers uneasy is that other adhesives can be difficult to clean up. That’s not the case with GreenForce. Bostik has developed this adhesive to bond with concrete, but not with finishes.
Bostik recommends using a non-abrasive towel to wipe up any GreenForce that happens to get onto the planks you are installing. There’s really no need any more for a towel soaked in solvents to clean up the adhesive. If the GreenForce does happen to cure, it has been specially designed to clean up easily with a plastic scraper.
Wouldn’t it be great if all adhesives were this simple to work with? It really can’t get easier than that!
GreenForce is packaged in a plastic bucket. The plastic bucket is durable so there’s less chance of damage affecting the performance of the product within. GreenForce has been designed with limited skimming in mind. Other adhesives have 1-2″ of cured material on top, whereas there is significantly reduced skimming in the GreenForce bucket.
Give GreenForce a try
All of these features are what makes Bostik GreenForce a fantastic product that is excellent to use in just about any situation. After you’ve tried it once, you’ll find that Bostik GreenForce really makes an all-in-one adhesive solution for hardwood floor installations.
