City Floor Supply recently joined forces with their partners to donate the materials, time, and labor needed to help transform a dilapidated school into a state-of-the-art Police Athletic League (PAL) facility. See the video above for highlights.
The new Strawberry Mansion PAL Center, located at 3133 Ridge Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is home to more than 400 students and offers a multitude of programs including basketball, gymnastics, homework help and computer training.
The need for a new PAL center was clear, but the project provided some obstacles including the large scope of the overhaul and lack of funding.
Fred Beach, Sales Manager for City Floor Supply, was instrumental in in the coordination and execution of the gym floor project. Fred reached out to one of City Floor’s largest vendors, Bona Kemi, who generously provided the court line paint, finish, and sealer.
City Floor Supply also donated flooring cleats for the installation and the cleaning materials needed to maintain the new floor.
“From start-to-finish this project was all about community and giving back,” said Fred Beach of City Floor Supply. “Bona donated product, the union volunteered time and skills, and DoveLin and City Floor offered our project management and expertise. It was a team effort with one focus – creating a safe, welcoming place for kids in the community.”
According to Mike Glavin of City Floor Supply, “City Floor Supply is proud to support of the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia. The PAL organization offers kids an opportunity to play, learn, and develop life skills in a safe caring environment. We are always grateful for the opportunity to get involved in PAL projects. We recognize how hard the Philadelphia Police Department works on behalf of the kids in Philadelphia. To see the police working within the community to build the build relationships with the kids is truly inspiring.”
The center is a beacon of hope for the community thanks to the Police Athletic League (PAL), Dovelin Enterprises, City Floor Supply, the Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Committee of Philadelphia, the Building Owners’ and Managers’ Association (BOMA) and many others who worked together to reopen the former L.P. Hill School as the Strawberry Mansion PAL Center.
We had the pleasure of renovating the Harrowgate PAL last year as well! check out the video below for some highlights from that project.
